cold-work tool steel
SIHARD steel is adapted for machining and cutting metal, wood and synthetic materials and has excellent dimensional stability, high compressive strength and the required toughness, considering their intended use.
The adjusted chemical composition and processing technology provides SIHARD steel with the necessary resistance to:
- cut-edge fragmentation,
- possibility of nitration and
- hard PVD and EDM coatings.
SIHARD steel is used for cyclically loaded tools such as: punchers, pressers, die inserts for the compaction of powders, knives/blades, forging, rolling and deep drawing tools.
Delivery conditions: tool steel is normally delivered in a soft-annealed condition.
To produce SIHARD steel, we use recycled scrap as raw material. The use of scrap results in lower carbon emissions as compared to using iron ore. Owing to this, SIJ brand steels are a proof of the Group's commitment to decreasing its environmental impact.
